Larissa Saarel studies environmental science and is currently involved in a research project studying spiny softshell turtles. However, her love for the natural world goes beyond science, and it has infiltrated many aspects of her life. She loves to ski, run, backpack, riversurf, journal, and paint in her free time. “To Be a Bird” is her first published work and is dedicated to her mom.
