have you ever seen 

a tumbleweed in winter 

I have     blowing ferociously as 

wind drifts metal 

into mangled 

corpses     to care so much

about someone you don’t 

even know raises 

the question

should you even go 

it’s possible     we’ve lived 

through worse conditions 

but you can’t see 

in the face of it
